Apple Cheese Torte

Ralph's favorite apple recipe!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1 c flour
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 c apples (peeled and sliced)
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1/4 c almonds (or other nuts)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions

    Crust

    Cream together first four ingredients. Spread dough into 9” springform pan, on bottom and up 1 1/4 “ on sides.

    Filling

    Blend next four ingredients and pour into pastry lined pan.

    Top Layer

    Mix sugar and cinnamon, then toss apples in mixture.  Spoon apples carefully over cheese layer.  Sprinkle with…. 1/4 cup almonds or other nuts.  Bake at 450 for 10 minutes.  Reduce heat to 400 and continue to bake for 25 minutes or until apples throughout are soft.  Loosen torte from rim of pan.  Cool before removing rim of pan.
