Ingredients: 2 c sugar; 1 1/2 c shortening; 1/2 c molasses; 2 eggs; 1 tsp cloves; 1/2 tsp salt; 4 c flour; 4 tsp baking soda; 2 tsp cinnamon; 2 tsp ginger; 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Makes approximately 8 dozen cookies

Ingredients

2 c sugar
1 ¹⁄₂ c shortening
¹⁄₂ c molasses
2 eggs
1 tsp cloves
¹⁄₂ tsp salt
4 c flour
4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
¹⁄₂ tsp nutmeg

Instructions

Cream shortening, add sugar and cream together. Add eggs and molasses. Sift all dry ingredients together (do not sift flour before measuring). Add the dry ingredients to the previous ingredients. Mix well. Roll into small balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet, spaced well apart (do not press or flatten).

Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.
